Default The time has come...V40 is up for sale....

All,

Having found the XC90 i want, i'm putting my Volvo and my Clio up for sale, and in a dramatic turn of events (for us) me and SWMBO have decided to keep her shoddy megane and run it into the ground on as minimal expense as possible, hopefully the Cam belt will hold on for 16 months because it isn't getting done!

So, pictures to follow on Monday by which time she will be G3'd, gleaming and spotless inside and out, but here are the full specs and info on my V40 just to wet your appetites......

-Registered Feb 2004
-2.0 N/A sport Manual with 77k miles
-Sport Suspension
-LPG converted Feb '14 (see http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=197865) Has remainder of warranty on the conversion. Does at least 250 miles on a tank of Gas, this is between £26 and £29 at present depending on LPG price, so real world economy is mid 50's to the gallon or better. Got 295 miles on a run to London.
-Metallic Black
-Cream Leather (heated) with Silver Trim. Getting a good clean this weekend so will be Mint inside.
-Volvo Carpet mats throughout and Volvo Boot protector and dog guard included
-FSH (Volvo and specialist) up to 72k at which point i serviced it will oil, plugs and all filters
-New front and rear discs and pad in the last month (rears being done this weekend)
-Cam belt and VVT pulley done last month with receipts for everything
-17" Arcadia's which look good, but could do with a refurb if you are being picky on the front 2.
-New tires on the front (jinyus) and very good rears (Hankooks)
-Repaired, repainted and refitted splitter on the front (currently back off for a little finishing to be refitted on the weekend)
-LEDs in side markers and rear running lights
-All Dash bulbs replaced
-Switched power socket
-Factory Xenon's
-Factory Roof Rack with crossbars included in the sale
-Climate Control
-Cruise Control
-4 Electric windows
-Both Keys present and correct
-All paperwork present and correct
-5 months Tax included
-will have 12 months MOT and a fresh oil change
-No knocks/rattles/squeaks etc...car drives Perfectly

Faults:
-The A/C has never worked in my ownership, I have had it tested by a garage that i trust and it is the condenser that has sprung a leak and it wont hold gas. A tested working Condenser is included in the sale (from Gatso) so you can either do it yourself or have a garage do it.
-There is a 5p sized dint in the Rear passenger door just under the window, hardly noticeable, could be rubbed out if you are bothered but it does not detract from the car at all.
- There is a paint scuff on the passenger side mirror
-There is a slight lacquer peel on the passenger side front bumper low down, I never noticed it before last weekend when i was cleaning it, as its black you really don't notice it, just being 100% honest!

Basically bar the electric seats and DSC its got everything on it, In my opinion its better than a Diesel, in that its quieter, more economical with the LPG unless you are going to sit on motorways all the time, its cheaper to maintain, less complex and has the least stressed engine, hence why i bought it!

The Car owes me £3000 plus change. I have had it for 6 months and its been a great car, I hadn't envisaged selling it hence doing the LPG conversion, but as circumstances have changed she is up for sale as a very nice V40, one of the very last of the PH2 pre-Ford Cars, with everything bar the A/C done.

I think its worth £3000 All day long given the condition, LPG conversion, Very low mileage, and history, but being a realist I am willing to accept a reasonable offer to save me going through the ringer of advertising it and having to deal with the plebs

Pics to follow but if you have any questions beforehand feel free to PM me, send Carrier pigeon, smoke signals, all the usual......

Looked at 3 now, all 163 pre DPF cars which i want so i can run on Bio with no problems.

One is perfect, fsh, currently belongs to an RAF plane engineer and he has done everything, AWD spline, fixed the leaking sunroof, cambelt, changed the 'box oil, reconned alloys and side steps, all bodywork sorted, plus a raft of other things, and TVs in the back and all sorts of other extras from new

Another is good, much later model but 180k, SH is patchy so second choice but only if the guy will take a massive bid on it, cosmetically lovely but needs the belts doing, AWD never been done, and for an XC90 quite basic on the inside...BUT it has been mapped to 204BHP which i can tell you now if you haven't driven one makes a MASSIVE difference.

The last was an absolute DOG, looked mint in the pics, and described as such both in print and on the phone, but in the flesh a complete munter, i wouldn't feel right offering £2k, let alone the £6k the seller is asking, cloud cookoo land. And it was a fair trek to go and view it. To be frank I was very annoyed when i saw it driving up to it, let alone when i drove it and saw the inside.

There is another one that you may have seen its on the bay and the trader at £3.5k so very bottom of the pricing, 233k miles, but FSH, belts just done and everything works, seller sounds (on the phone) honest and at that price plus a bit of haggling there could be a lot of money to set aside for doing stuff to it, so its an outside possibility, but im getting my brother in law to go have a gander at it to see what he thinks, might be the very cheap option.

Have you driven any yet Grumpy, they really are a lovley wafty beast even in 163BHP spec. Mate has a brand new(ish) 205BHP r-line that set him back over £40k and having been in that it really isn't that much different to an older one.

I haven't been in any yet mate, waiting to get my ducks in a row (money wise), but have had a good look at a few. Think I am gonna go for something on Autotrader rather than something on the Bay.
