V70 is going for an MOT in the morning (163k on it). Checked all I could;
-Tyre pressures are good, as is the tread -Fluids are all fine -Bulbs work -Seatbelts work -Wipers/washers fine -Headlight washers work -Its washed and clean, just to look presentable (it needed a wash though ) -Inside all vacuumed, leather seats have been cleaned and treated too. Dash wiped down -Doors open and close fine, as does the boot. -All windows work -Heater/air con is fine -Horn -Brakes are good, discs are good too -Had new front lower control arms recently, as well as rear trailing arm bushes replaced -New shocks and mounts (front and rear) about 18 months ago I know having the car clean doesn't play a part in the MOT, but I think its good to have the car looking presentable. Its a work horse, so its never spotless at the best of times. As its a work horse, it never will be spotless either. Its kept in very good condition generally though. Yes it may need a hoover every now and again and there's all sorts of junk in the boot usually, but that's what its for. Its serviced on time and it gets what it needs parts/repairs wise. Boot is now clear though. Fingers crossed, it passes. You never know what they'll find on the ramp though.

first impressions go along way with mot testers a possible fail could be something as simple as rusted exhaust pipe brackets dont worry im sure your prep will go a long way to a successful outcome

Little updates make life a lot more interesting.
So, I replaced the roller blind thingey over the cupholders as mine started falling apart (the rubber was coming off the plastic base). Always looked tatty so a new one was bought and fitted... After that, I was getting sick of the dirty matte and grey foglight surrounds. There were factory ones in silver, but my car is neither an R-Design nor does it have any matte silver parts outside. What it does have though is some high gloss plastic in black so the chouce was obvious... A few things are currently in the pipeline. We'll see how soon they'll be revealed

XC70 - Windscreen Washer Top Up Reveals...
So I topped up the windscreen washer fluid in my 2013 XC70 today - I'd been meaning to do it for 2 or 3 weeks but hadn't used the car much.
Unfortunately, it appears the windscreen washer level sensor is now not picking up that I've brimmed it so the warning still appears on the dash and headlight washers will not engage. I have since discovered thanks to this forum that windscreen washers not working is an MOT failure for post 2009 cars! Any tips on solving which do not involve anything as challenging as taking the front bumper off or the passenger front wheel arch trim gratefully received!
