Xc60 heavy duty springs
Hi all , as the title has anyone sourced any heavy duty springs for their xc60 ? I can't seem to find any anywhere. From the email reply I received they aren't listed.
I was looking into finding the springs for another p3 model and fitting those but in the back of my mind I think I've read the suspension is different on the 60's, but I don't know and don't know enough to take the chance. I've posted here because as I tow a caravan the back end is sitting a little low and that's with a 75kg nose weight so mine must be tired as it is. Thank you. |

Hi,
I had some auxillary springs fitted to the rear of our hyundai Santa Fe as the ride was soft and awful when towing our twin axle as we were at max limit of car and caravan weights, they were Mad Suspension and being auxillary they inserted inside the main springs. It looked a bit odd seeing a spring within a spring but the transformation was amazing both solo and towing. Edit: I've had a look and they do replacement heavy-duty springs upto 2017. After that it's the polymer leaf spring the same as on our XC90. Last edited by watto64; May 10th, 2024 at 20:29. |

I tow a 2000kg twin axle caravan with my XC60 without any problems. Caravan sits perfectly level.
Both the rear springs have broken at around 80k miles and have been replaced with genuine Volvo springs. The springs both broke with about 3 inches breaking off the bottom and was noted on inspection with no adverse effect on normal handling. Might be that the rear springs have been replaced with aftermarket ones that are much cheaper than the genuine ones and may not up to the job.

And what ever you do don't fit those rubber insert things that prevent your existing springs compressing, a sure way to spring fracture and failure.
