Default Is this the reason why I'm knocking?

A few months ago I changed the front springs on my S40. I have now noticed a knocking/boining sound from the near side front wheel.

Here are the pics on the mounts, are they too close to the edge, and if so how do I remedy this?

Near side

Off side

Also when having a look under, it looks like the spring is too compressed at the top mount if that makes sense? These are T4 springs for a 2001 so not sure whats wrong, maybe I fitted them wrong?

As always your help is apprciated

Bad news is - top mounts are shot. The threaded bit should be centred.
Not very likely that you fitted the spring wrong, you would know if you had.

Cool

Happy Driver has the right idea, cos if a mount, spring or shock fails, it's normally best to change the lot in one go AND check the track rod ends etc.
The Lemforder parts in his link are real top quality and will last far longer than Fleabay specials, which can corrode very quickly.
Bad news is that the tracking will need doing again, which cost me 80 Euros for a real good job last time.

The pics from the OP remind me I must check to see if my nuts are centered this Sunday, after I do my weekly engine oil sniff and rub tests.

Cool

For Gen Volvo parts (Top mounts only, as their shocks are expensive), try Rufe the FRF Swansea Volvo dealer, phone job with forum discount code (C3 I think).
For cheaper OK equivalent parts, try Skandix. Their web site is VIN specific and they will also quote for any manufacturer. They are not as cheap as FRF for gen Volvo.

Brilliant will do thanks. Will get both sides done, might as well do the drop links as well.
