Hi guys my diff end plate has a hole in it and I need a replacement ASAP, does anyone have one or a whole diff for sale?

Does anyone know if tge diff end plates are the same across the 340 range? Mine is a 1982 1.4 manual

If you can help please call/text me on 07838782202
Thanks Ed

yes the same , why not fit a 5 speed transaxle whilst you are at it , a direct bolt in job .. i fitted a 1.7 5 speed i got for £5 into a 1980 4 speed 1.4 , the gearing is slightly tall , but great at cruising .

you could weld a plate over the hole ...

They are a bit of a problem part and do often end up bent. If it is just a hole then best bet would be to weld it up. I do keep gasket kits in stock for them

Just spent the last 3hours trying to remove the diff to no joy,

The end plate bolts are very corroded and flaky and I only managed to remove 3 the only option after that was to remove the diff, so then I removed the drive shafts and gearbox to diff nuts and bolts, then I looked at the diff mounting bolts and they weren't much better, so I moved on to the diff mounting bracket and undid the 4 x 13mm bolts, with the car jacked up on axle stands I haven't got enough rear movement to remove the diff off the gearbox even with the gearbox support loosened as it fouls the subframe.
I managed to remove one of the diff bracket bolts and I'll be back on it tomorrow evening to cut the other one off then as it's too late not to get the grinder out.

Not a good start to owning this 340 as I only brought it on Saturday
