UPDATE: I did try our various car seats earlier today and basically with 3 car seats in the back, access to the buckles is pretty much impossible... But with one of the forward facing seats in the front and the rearward facing carrycot in the middle in the back + wife & booster seat either side it does work (i.e.: buckles are still accessable because the carry cot is facing the other way), however, I'd imagine as soon as the baby has outgrown the carrycot then it will be back to the same problem of no access to buckles again 🤔 so basically I the V60 is do-able for now, or at least until the baby is circa 9-12 months old maybe....

So it's basically either get the most out of the V60 and change later down the line or just bite the bullet and change before the baby arrives then it's all sorted, what to that can fit all 5 of us comfortably, now that's the question 🤔

If your current kids seats have own straps, or become seats with own straps ie isofix the seat belts are no longer an issue (cos seats are isofix and have own straps) but ONLY 5 seater car with 3 rear isofix is the Picasso. All others are isofix at outside positions only, and when outside seats are fitted, there is no room for a cental passenger, in or not in a childseat, such is the room taken by the outter childseats..
My daughter and I searched for weeks....Picasso was the only vehicle...
BTW daughter n husband both HATE the car but it does the job.
Cheers Bob

I have a 2014 V70 and we have a 8.5yr old, 2 year old and 5 months old. They all fit in the back, eldest has a booster cushion, middle child has a cybex sirona and the youngest has a cybex cloud-Z. They all fit in the back with the eldest in the middle and the outer two secured by isofix.

Not that I’d advise it but the law does state that a child over 3 can sit without a car seat if you can’t fit 3 across the back.

Thanks for this reply, it sounds like there is hope yet with a V70 then and three young kids. Is it a squeeze or are they all relatively comfortable on longer journeys?.. can everyone easily access buckles etc?

I think I'm going to need to try my seats in a V70/XC70 or something to check for sure whether it is any more practical than my V60, enough to consider swapping anyway...

It’s a tight squeeze to get the seatbelt in on my daughter in the middle but it’s do-able. There’s plenty of shoulder room for them. I have sat in the middle between the two youngest for a couple of hours and I was fine. Bit of a squeeze for me but I could still walk by the time I got back😂

Thanks for this, definitely reassuring to know it is possible! At least while the youngest is still in a carrycot car seat.

V70 owner.
First one, std rear bench. I drove. My two in the back outer rear seats. 1 in gp2 forward facing baby seat. Other in booster seat. Cousin bit squeezed in middle. Her daughter in booster seat in front passenger seat.

Second one. Built in booster seats. Sons on boosters. One on setting 2 one on setting 1. 14 year old niece sat between with plenty of room. Plenty of room for a booster seat in middle. Me driving, brother in passenger seat.

I know this thread is old, however I want to give you an opinion.
There are Diono chairs, which comply with all safety requirements.

My family is 5
My wife, myself and 3 children (1,5 and 7).

With these chairs, all 3 fit without problems.

For the center seat, we use an isofix adapter with top tether, which keeps the center seat secure and firm.
