Hi help needed,

I took my 2003 2.4 S80 for a 40 mile run with no problems whats so ever, parked it up for a couple of hours and just started it to have the engine light on, the oil light on, an urgent service message and feeling like its missing a cylinder!

The car only had a full service two weeks, any ideas on what could be wrong especially as there was no indication of an issue when I parked up.

Thanks Ian

I don't know if your car is petrol or diesel but I had a similar problems on my
previous V70 (petrol). A process of elimination indicated a faulty ignition coil,
they do seem to weaken with age..cost about £60. I would also check out the
injector and spark plug on the of the offending cylinder.
Could be completely wrong of course but it would worth identifying the cylinder and checking these items before digging any further

Well unfortunately nothing as simple or as cheap as a coil or lose wire, turns out to be a faulty throttle body. Cost including plugging it into the diagnostic machine, £435

sorry to hear that..I just think it's worth checking out the simple things first,
throttle modules were a weakness in Volvos of that era.Hope all is now OK
