340 stereo removal
I am trying to remove a VC608 radio cassette from my old 340 to get access to the heater fan system which has died, but I can't see how to get the unit out. The Haynes manual only shows how to get out a basic radio, not a radio cassette. Any suggestions gratefully received.

RE: 340 stereo removal
There are 2 plastic uprights at either side of the radio which can be removed by a small screwdriver. You then need 2 radio removal forks which are inserted either side of the radio in the 2 holes. Put these in & then push them sideways apart when inserted & pull them both back which should bring the radio out with them.
The forks can be bought from Halfords for a couple of quid. You could use a screwdriver to lever the radio out, but you do risk damaging the front ! Cheers, John.

RE: 340 stereo removal
John, Thanks for the advice. I thought it was probably a fork/screwdriver job, but could not see how to remove the plastic uprights, and as they seem reluctant to move and I'm loath to cause cosmetic damage I wonder if you would be kind enough to elaborate a bit on how I get these bits off, then I should be fine with the rest of it. Regards, Alan.

RE: 340 stereo removal
Get a small, flat bladed screwdriver & insert in the vertical gap between the radio & the small cover, then twist the screwdriver - you should then see the plastic cover moving away from the radio towards you.
Cheers, John.
