Given your location, Pirellis, Falken or similar would be a good bet.

Find as many reviews as you can then go through them to find reviewers in your area. Round where you are and also where i am, Pirellis rate highly - not so in the west midlands and having driven several cars in that area on pirellis, i can see why. Bridgestones seem to be a good all-rounder but again, will vary from area to area. Likewise Falken seem to be very good all-round but as before, will vary with area.

Certainly round here my expereince of both Pirellis and Falkens has been very good and on my occasional trip south, the Pirellis performed faultlessly but on a recent trip to Corby that i would call middle-midlands, i noticed they weren't so good. Ditto on Falkens previously.

Lastly, take into account the original tyres fitted way back when your car was new. Try to find a tread pattern and compound similar to those as they will give the best compromise out of what's available. Many new tyres available now have been designed for modern cars with different suspension set ups, weights and so on and often don't perform as expected on an older car like our Volvos or similar aged cars.
