indeed the black 805's were very rare and only fitted to late 850's. I would think the cassette deck is prob much the same as fitted to other black SC models, which is why it differs from the 805 pic in this thread

It isn't similar to the 801 you were originally working on. Seems they changed it AGAIN.
My car is a '97 855. So that ties in with the 'late 850' comment. - Richard |

it seems the decks were all diffrent. Even my Sc800 had a different deck to the 801. However, there should still be conenctions somewhere on the lower board, where the deck goes into

I would like to get hold of one of every unit, and do this hack, so I can advise, I have done the 800, 801. It has been shown on here how to do the grey 805, so that leaves the black 805, and the 802

I can show the black 805. It's just the shear output level of it I gound too much. Other might like the bass.
Also I think the shielding issue is an important one to look into for those of us who use our phones as mp3 players... - Rich |

the problem is where you connect it. When i was first testing this, i found no less than 20 places i could connect to, and around 18 produced different types of sounds, some bass, some tinny, etc. So i think you are just on the wrong points. it is a bit of trial and error, but now i found the best place, I can prob find them on any

Well good luck, I spent a good hour going through most possible permutations. Even trying other PCBs and cap values.
Let me know if you get any further than I managed. - Rich |

Indeed, so my instructions will have to suffice for now.
Apologies if they are not up to your standards... |

Hi, just picked up on this again. I find the sound with my 805 OK, maybe a tad bassy. You could try lower value capacitors, say 1uFor 470nF which will cut the bass i.e. the lower the cap value, the more the bass cut (to do with impedance) but it all depends on the impedance of the circuit where you're connecting to. It's a guessing game without a circuit schematic (which I don't have). Regards.
