Default B200 oil pressure switch thread size

Hey kids!

Anyone know the oil pressure switch thread size on a B200? I need it to order the right sender for a oil pressure gauge. I think its 1/8" NPT on a B2x, but I think the B2xx might be M14? Any thoughts?

cheers

James

M14 seems correct to me. imperial thread was used on B19/20/21/23 series engines. B200/230 use metric thread.

Thanks for your help - I've got hold of an M14 bolt, so all will shortly be revealed! Just need some of that plumbers tape to seal the pressure switch back in them I'm done.

cheers

James

that is usually sealed with a copper washer, i guess? imperial thread is lightly conical and does not need a washer, but the M14x1,5 switch needs it!

I've got another problem now - it might be an M14 thread, but it needs a 24mm socket (not 22 as it should be)....added to that it has to be a deep (spark plug) socket to get past the metal sheath!! This is an item no-one seems to have!

The sump plug / oil temp sender is sealed with a copper washer...I'm under the impression that this isn't the case with the pressure sender....will confirm with the garage man (he'd obviously fitted a temp sender before when I got it doen with the oil change).

cheers

James

Ah, fair enough! Are the pressure switches (stock) sealed using copper washers too, or just the (add-on) senders?

Are we definitely sure its an M14? I might get my garage man to try my M14 bolt in the hole :) I feel defeated by this - I'm sure they used a 'sheathed' switch in an attempt to protect the contact, but n fact its just a pain!!

Thanks

James

My word...that is amazing...you my friend are a legend!
Yours is a pint if ever we meet!

I do my best to help people on these (and other) forums, and I often feel that many of the most complex question I have can't be answered by the folks here (which is understandable, given how obscure they often are). This is one of the days that makes it all worthwhile. Thank you so very much!

cheers

James
