Default Broken folding wing mirror

My son has just bought a 2009 v70 se . The near side wing mirror has had a clip at some time and wont fold in or out when ignition is switched on as its supposed to. The mirror adjust still works ok. Does anyone know if the gearbox that moves the mirror can be replaced or better still repaired ? Will a secondhand replacement mirror need to be programmed by Volvo ? Have looked on the internet and e-bay and no parts apart from the mirror glass is available and a new mirror is the wrong side of £300 !

Before doing anything else move it all the way forward and back by hand first to see if it snaps back onto motor itself.

Volvo don't actually sell a complete mirror they only sell you all the bits to build one. Wrecked the near side on mine against a concrete pillar, thought it was total write off. Local body shop got all the parts to build a new one but fixed the old one using just some of the parts, total cost c£100 all done. Find a good local body shop and see if they can repair it first.
