Default Under the wheel arch !!!

Hi
Under the front offside wheel arch of my 2005 V50 2.0 D is a small plastic box that is connected to the wiring loom. On the front is a lever that is connected to the lower wish bone by a plastic link with pivot at either end.
I'm guessing that the pivots are siezed or knackered because as the suspension move and the link goes up or down it is making an horrendous squeak. I've soaked it in easing oil and allsorts of penetrating fluid and makes no difference. I've phone Mill a number of times and they dont know what it is. Can anyone identify it please.

You have Xenon lights. The linkage is part of the leveling system to keep the lights at a correct height to stop blinding people. That is basically the load level sensor...

I can only assume it is some sort of level sensor. Have you got either Xenon lights or nivomats?

Not really sure what it can be really but a picture would be good.

Added:

Had this post open for a while and looks like Daim has provided the right answer, you would expect the dealer to have picked up on this??

Thanks. That actually makes sense. All I need now is a new linkage.

The linkage is not available seperately and the complete unit is £108 from the stealers (I was unable to find any aftermarket suplier). Fitting it requires drilling the old bracket rivets out and bolting the new one in (bolts not supplied). the other option is to remove the sensor from the bracket and fit it to the old bracket (not an option for me as the old bracket was bent!). You may need to get the self leveling recalibrated (I didnt but I was told its a bit hit or miss) all in all not a bad job really it only took me a little over an hour on my drive.
