V70 Stepper motor
Help. Can anyone tell me where I can get a stepper (stepping/Step up) motor for my 2002 V70. I Understand the part number is 31216348 but various sites I have looked at say this part no longer available... Thanks in hope

Getting harder to find. Autogas (Thirsk) are out of stock with them on order. There is an outfit in Poland that does these. Also out of stock and on order. I have a stash of these but sorry not for sale. I will repair yours on an exchange basis if you are desparate. Volvo have them in the UK but dear me, they are pricey.
Miton Keynes Volvo Quoted £613 for complete Dist & Stepper assembly £540 for stepper. Ouch! Part 9497709 (as on my stepper) comes as the whole assembly. mad when you consider the GM Chev Vauxhall Ford version is almost throwaway at £40.00. (I use these to repair the Volvo version). I will give you £30 for your broken one.

Thanks. I have spoken to Autogas 2000 and the Polish company who both advise have them on order. I am at a bit of a loss to understand that if you have a supply of them why are you not prepared to sell me one. I live in France and Volvo France want 900 euros for one.

Sorry to appear unhelpful. I am not prepared to sell my stash for jsut the reason you state. These things are in short supply and cost heaps. I intend to keep my V70 (probably the rarest V70 in the world) on the road for a long time, so i want them, not so much because I need the motors but becuase whilst the Necam system is essentiailly good, many of the fualts have exactly the same symtoms so I like to have known working parts in stock to fault find by elimination. VIDA does not work with Necam. I have a regulator ECM and dizzy too.
I have an electronics background and I have been able to repair the steppers. Send me yours and I'll do it for GBP150. These things have a design fault the manufacturer msut be fully aware of however it keeps them in business. But volumes are low so it can't be long befor ethey stop production. My repair actaully sorts the design fault that makes these go bang with such frequency. Send me your old one and I'll looksee.... I will send you a dummy to insert in its place whilst you wait or put paper-towleiing wedged very hard in the cavity. DO NOT GET CR*P IN THERE! Good luck. PM sent.

A thought, both the CNG and LPG variants use this part. Only about 3500 were ever made by Volvo - they were not a sales success. It is unique to these vehicles. Commercail reality means that of the 3500 made how many now survive?
Of those that do, how many owners will trouble to replace this part, thus it won't be long before the manufacturer seeing no way of selling a viable production volume stops making them.

Just replace the front end system with a brand new other make type, will work out cheaper.
