How long have you owned a Volvo ?
Thought it might be interesting to see how long people have owned their Volvo for ? That is what's the longest they've owned a particular Volvo for, not necessarily how long they've owned Volvos for.
ie someone might have been driving Volvos for 40 years but bought a brand new one every two years. (So their answer to the poll would be 2) A different member might have bought a Volvo 40 years ago and kept it all that time. It's the latter I'm interested in. How long you've owned Volvos for is a separate question. Last edited by Rocinante; Mar 7th, 2022 at 15:44. |

I appreciate it doesn't cover the gamut of your Volvo experience, but such are the limitations of the poll. |

My current XC90 since I bought it new in November 2008. I went a bit nuts with the options and bestowed it with everything from the electronic compass to Polestar and it ended up costing me a few pence over £49,000 I justified it by saying I would keep it for a long time, and so I have for 14 years.
The XC90 before that was bought new in 2006, last of the 163's that I got a good deal on as it had been languishing unsold in stock for quite a while. That was mine, then passed on to my wife in 2008 when I bought another, then when my daughter learned to drive it went to her and she still has it, so thats been with us/me gor 16 years. Apart from a 6 year break in the middle, I've been in a Brick since 1976. I was taught to drive in a 245 and bought one myself as my first car along with a Camaro as a toy. Since then ive been through a 740 wagon, a 940 wagon, an 850 wagon and finally an early P2 V70. I then foolishly had a break when I came the the UK and bought a new X5 then a Lexus RX300, neither of which were a patch on any Volvo I have owned before or since for reliability. Then went back to Volvo with my first XC90, the aforementioned 163, then a 185, that I still have, then a 200 for the Wife which was recently soldwhen she downsized. Finally, I recently bought a P3 V70 on a bit of a whim intending to flip it but I really like the way it drives and I keep finding excuses to keep it. Apart from the purchase of tyres none of them went anywhere other than a Volvo dealer for servicing and work. None have ever broken down on me. Ever. I'm retired now and if I'm honest don't need a car at all so I doubt I will ever buy another new car, but I'm not against the idea of an older Volvo, likely a 164. PS, you need to modify the poll to allow multiple answers for those of us with multiple Volvos.

There's a list starting to form of polls in addition to this one.
(Don't think I post them, a lot of the info looks like it might crop up in the comments here though)

As others are filling in a little detail in addition to the poll.
Bought a 2007 V50 in 2011, and then switched up for a 2011 V60 in 2015, which is the current car. |

Only had this one 3 years but aim to keep it a long time. I only got rid of the old V70 after 10 years because I couldn't get down into it any more, or up out of it!
