Default Volvo c70 abs fire

Greetings. I had to quickly remove the battery terminal from my 1998 volvo c70 a few moments ago. It was driven about 24 hours ago and was parked in my driveway. My daughter rushed to inform me that the car was on fire. Smoke was pouring from under the bonnet. Before removing the terminal I saw a red glow on the unit. After it cleared any touch of the terminal to the battery pole would create quite a spark between pole and terminal. Thoughts.
