Default Oily smell in C30 cabin on startup

Car is a 2010 c30 drive model, c73k miles. The smell only lasts a few seconds, straight after startup then goes away, and does not reoccur while driving.
Any suggestions gratefully received!

I've just had a hose replaced. It links the air intake to the turbo, but also incorporates the recycling of oil fumes from the engine. The hose was split close to the turbo and causing flat spots under acceleration. I think it had been going on for a while before the symptoms made it noticeable. The smell you describe is exactly what I was experiencing. My guess is the oil vapour was escaping briefly as I started the engine, but since the fix it's gone now. I could of course be completely wrong, but that's my two penn'orth :0)

Default Update - possible alternative

Following the repair described, the oil smell had diminished but was still evident. Further examination led to finding the charge air pipe (intercooler pipe) also had a split. Now replaced, all the odours are gone. In my case both jobs needed doing however the intercooler pipe is the cheaper of the two by about half, so would be a good first choice. Incidentally, the air drawn in through the split was affecting the fuel/air mix and fuel economy was suffering. This has been restored now the work is complete.
