Sunroof fuse rating

Hello one and all, just windering what the fuse rating was for the sunroof on the 40 series, I've just bought the car and it had a blown 7.5amp fuse there, so I replaced it and blew it, then upped to a 10amp and blew that, now I don't want to get any higher without knowing what rating it 'should' be,

On the 760 the sunroof fuse also serves the heated back window and the heated mirrors. It's fuse no 10, and it is rated at a whopping 30 amps.

I would reckon that the 40 will be identical. If you haven't got your car's original book of words, then you access the fuses, by first removing the ashtray (depress the springy metal fag end stubber down), and then press up the rail beneath the ashtray that should be marked "electrical fuses - press". This enables the whole fuse and relay tray to be pulled out some way to enable access.

The reverse side of the ashtray, that you didn't look at as you took it out, and hurled into passenger footwell, should have pasted on it chapter and verse of what each fuse serves, and its rating.

If yours hasn't got that legend then send me a PM and I'll copy it out and post it.

Hello stephen, I've had a 700 and 200 series in the past and they have always had the fuse rating stamped exactly where you stated, however the god of all things volvo decided whilst making the 400 series not to print the fuse rating on the cover of the box, so I'll wait for a definite answer

hahaahaha, last thing I want to do is burn a wire out and have to trace and replace a burnt loom, thanks stephen

(P.S I do always throw the cover of the 200 across the car then have to go and look for it to check the ratings

Whatever the maker of the motor supplied as Volvo original equipment (and in sunroofs it seems to be Rockwell / Bosch), it surely stands to reason that the amount of grunt needed to shift the roof is about the same. I appreciate your reservations, but you'd have to have one hell of a short to blow the cable in a loom. But it's your call, so...

Hmmm, Haynes as useful as ever...

No. 22 is listed for the ignition switch light, interior lighting, interior time delay relay, clock, sunroof (15A) and ECU (B18FT).

And it's listed as 7.5A.

So how the hell is a 15A sunroof supposed to work? I presume they mean that this fuse should be a 15A on models with a sunroof? And if this fuse was blown, surely you should have been having turbo problems if there was no power to the ECU? Huh?

Flippin' Haynes grumble grumble.
