Default Starting issue 2008 V50 2.0d

Evening all I’ve recently purchased a v50 2.0d with 134k, has anyone had a similar issue my car takes two attempts to start!? I’ve just recently fitted new battery new starter motor oil and filter changed. Drives perfect once started could it be glow plugs??

Default Sicking throttle body flap

Hi a possible cause is the throttle body anti shudder valve is jammed closed. Take off engine top cover and where you see the large air pipe going in to the front of the engine is the throttle body on the 2.0d. It will probably be covered in oily soot that can make it stick. If you get a chance take it off only 3 screws. And give it a clean with some egr / carb cleaner and rub down the edge of the flap with some sand paper to stop it sticking again. Also make sure not to overtighten the jubilee clip that holds air pipe on as this can misshape the housing and cause the same problems.

When you try to start the engine the shaking will make it open. This is why it's taking a couple of attempts.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Thanks for your reply. This is probably the issue as I removed that hose yesterday when fitting the new starter motor I’m guessing I have over tightened the jubilee clip! As it was not doing this until I fitted the new starter. Cheers 👍🏼

Default Every 6 months

I take mine off every 6 months and give it a good clean. I bought a spare off eBay so just rotate them. They get really dirty because of the recirculation of the egr system.

Hope you get it sorted 👍👍

Cheers
