  • VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way

Buy a set of imperial spanners; nothing on your car is metric.

A Costco (Crescent) spanner and socket set is under £100

There is no drain on the diff, you'll need to get a banjo cover gasket.

I thought that I would just syphon some of it out from the fill plug hole and then top it up with some fresh.

The vast majority of the axles don't have plugs, you need to remove the rear cover to drain them. Consequently a lot of cars have not had their axle oil changed from new.

Hi my '71 rear axle has a drain plug. It was a bugger to get it off, but it was still there.

Had a look at mine, not easy as I'm not as young as I used to be no drain plug, will syphon some out and replenish.At least my garage mechanic will.

Take the diff cover off and drain it fully. It's quicker in the end and it'll be done properly. The gaskets are cheap.
