If that's your engine bay you should be ashamed of yourself - it's far too clean!!!

But seriously, which engine is this we're looking at? What's there looks like a scaled down version of what's on the B200/230 series.

If you haven't access to Vadis, I'll post up the pic of the B200 type for comparison, if you like?

Cheers,

T

There is a square section O ring to seal it into the block.

So, it's just a tight push fit. I couldnt get it to budge but I was afraid I might damage it. Do they get blocked or is it best to leave well alone?

Yes, they do get blocked, and like the later ones cause back pressure in the lower crankcase. Not certain if they come off or not; I suspect they may just have to be blown through with a pressure line, and only have to come off as a last resort if they shown sign of leaking from the seal. Have you checked the pipe's clear?

Here's the exploded diagram of the later type. As you can see it's basically just a developed version of the earlier one.

In the meantime, I'll have a look through the Brookhouse catalogue to see if I can find yours in there.

Cheers,

T

There's a 7/16 headed bolt underneath the thing, but I assume you've found that? Just twist it. They don't really get blocked. The brass flame trap does, but that can be levered out with the box in place.

It's not really like the later boxes posted up above. It's just an empty cannister.

No, I hadn't noticed the bolt. I will have a look. Thanks.

Yes, that's it. Problem is that it's LHD and the Brake master cylinder is on the left of engine leaving hardly any room between fuel pump and dizy to get my hand down with a spanner. So far one cut, right hand wrist Will try again tomorow, also only have metric spanners!

Job done. Didn't need cleaning but the problem with a "new" car is you just don't know. Next I'm going to change gear box oil, don't know how long it's been in, also diff. BTW metric 11 spanner did the job.
