Anglia Car Auctions Volvo
Hi All
Yes I can whole heartedly agree with Jim and Jeff this motor is way above the selling criteria of a general motor auction, unless it is being sold amongst a special sale of Classic and Vintage Cars. The 164 has already been well described but I know that John lavished more care and attention on it than alot may appreciate. Personally I have thought highly of John and the car since the mid eighties and would recommend a potential buyer spending some serious money for this quality vehicle. At one time John had a sister car to this, same colour etc on an 'L' plate, it was difficult to spot the differance. Sorry to ramble on. Cheers REGAL 144 |

I attended the auction and viewed the car. It is absolutely immaculate. I looked hard for faults, but simply could not see any. The owner was with the car to answer any questions. The condition of the car is a real credit to him.
The priced reached was £5500 plus buyers premium - too much for me, but a great car for someone. I hope it found a good home. |

I made a special trip to Kings Lynn all the way from Glasgow specifically to view and hopefully bid for this 164 based on the description and estimated price range provided by Anglia Car Auctions. As soon as I saw the vehicle I knew that the estimate of £1800 to £2600 should have been double that. It was superb-the bidding started at £3000 and swiftly went up to £5500 plus 6%(inc VAT) buyer's premium and at that it was good value. Whilst it was only fair that it sold for a fair price it was really annoying that the stated estimated price range was clearly woefully under and as I could not afford to bid at anything like the final selling price I would not have made the trip at a cost of well over £200 if the estimate had been more realistic. If any of you have or will see the car then you will realise that there was no justification for such a low estimate. I am sure that the new owner will be pleased with their purchase and no doubt will keep it in the present outstanding condition and hopefully will enter it at shows and rallys for others to appreciate.

Have a look at the video on KFG site. If you look carefully you will see that the paint on one of the door tops has bubbles. The car looks as though it has been re painted. What else is lurking under the paint. Fixing the bubbles wouldn't be dificult but matching the paint would.
