Default Stereo keeps disconnecting Bluetooth and hanging

My stereo system Bluetooth connects to my phone, plays for a few seconds then reboots and hangs. Have to restart the car to clear this but it will hang again. Any firmware update or other fix recommended?

Have you tried plugging into Vida to see if there are any error codes? What year and model is your XC90?

2013 T5.

I had VIDA plugged in a week or two ago and was all green. Lent it out so need to get it back.

This Bluetooth system has never worked properly since the car was new. Usually gets stuck on 'connecting....' the first time it connects and never completes. Fixed by turning off BT on whichever phone it is and turning BT on again but VIDA hasn't picked that up. Volvo said its a common issue with this system but not covered by any warranties so kinda learnt to live with it.

BT protocols are many and varied and there has been huge inconsistency over the years - BMW was blighted with similar issues and inability of newer phones to connect to older cars. I had awful problems with my 2005 X5 in this respect. Very frustrating.

My 2008 XC90 doesn't have built in BT but I remedied that quickly and easily with a cute device which clips on my visor and connects seamlessly to up to 2 phones simultaneously and even works with siri, so you can do voice operated calls all handsfree. all for £20 ish so I didn't bother with having a parrot kit fitted. My car still has a built in and working gsm phone so didn't want to mess about with the ICE and phone wiring.

hey hey hey! Does anyone know where the Bluetooth Module is located?!

I could cry - my bluetooth has completely disappeared.... it is an integral factory fitted module and not a aftermarket add on.

I turn the dial to put into bluetooth mode but it no longer has the option for the blue tooth to be discoverable..... Any ideas?

I took it to Halfords who suggested I find someone who knows where the elusive bluetooth module is located in this model for replacement. I can't cope without my music and podcasts

Could you use the aux socket and a cable as an interim to get your music back?
