Smile 480 turbo clutch etc

hi everyone, just got myself a 1989 480 turbo and need a bit of advice, clutch is slipping when i accelerate and bites from floor, ive read there could be a problem with cable but not sure how to check, otherwise shall i just change the clutch, if i have to change clutch as anyone got a step by step or pdf on the subject, cheers, rob

hi, I had the same problem once, everthing was ok but when I pushed the car the clutch slipped and an the engine would rev almost freely.
Probably the clutch is getting some wear an therefore getting "thin". In mine ('91 460 turbo) there are some screws than can be used to regulate the clutch pedal cable and make more contacted BUT be advised that if the clutch is in fact too thin it is better to replace it because it can break and then you'll have to chage more things than the disk itself.
In fact I don't think it is a good idea to mess with the cables if you don't know how is the wear of the clucth.

Clutch cable is easy to adjust. There's an adjuster on the cable at the lever on the gearbox. That are two M10 nuts with which you can adjust the lenght of the inner clutch cable.
To replace the clutch have look at the 480europe forum for tips and tricks. For a '89 you will need the early 200mm clutch which are getting difficult to scource.
