440 CD Turbo.
Hi there, people. I've got a Volvo 440 CD Turbo and I've made a few little mods to it. It's fitted with a Pipercross Viper induction kit, Bailey evo dump valve, Peco 3" chromed exhaust, 195/50/15 Yokohamas and a F.a.c.t.s. up-rated actuator. Kicking out approx 155 bhp, 0-60 is now a little over 7 seconds and the speedo goes off the clock at 140 mph. It's smooth and pulls great through all the gears... But at low speeds 0 mph - around 30 mph, there's sometimes a loud pop from the exhaust. Not a back fire, but a pop!!! usually happens when comming off the throttle. Anybody any ideas ? cheers....

RE: 440 CD Turbo.
That is a mixture of unburnt fuel and oxygen burning in your exhaust. My other car is a pit 1500, also heavily modded, and that does the same thing, although only when backing off the throttle at high revs. For the spit is is a normal thing and sounds pretty cool, but I am not sure about the 440's.......
Anyone? Stu |

RE: 440 CD Turbo.
If your dump valve is not the recirculating type the engine will have metered air being chucked out into the atmosphere , hence richness and maybe a pop in the exhaust if its when you are lifting off the throttle ie unburnt fuel being ignited . I fitted a boost controller to my friends 480 and has the same power and std everything else for £30 .
