ok,
try this. I have owned many classic cars over the last 15 years. I always had them on an 'agreed value' classic car policy. You dont gain NCB and you dont use yours.
However the premium is ALWAYS significantly cheaper. As long as you're not 18 with a few non fault claims I'm sure you can get a much much better quote than this £2800 rubbish.
Yesterday I bought a policy with footman james classic car specialists. Agreed value on my 850 GLT estate 2.5TDI fully comp, for me and the mrs unlimited mileage, european breakdown cover, legal expenses. £281. By the way Im 34.
With the same company a friend of mine insures his mk2 golf 1.3 petrol on a classic policy, he;s 18 years old his yearly policy is £560. On a normal policy (non classic) his cheapest quote was £1800!!!!
Agreed value means the value of the car is agreed at the start of the policy. You have to send then about 6 pics or so and get a club president/club valuer to fill in the form to cofirm the opinon of the value, or an independent specilaist. As mine is a really good ex diplomatic 1 owner from new the value I stated is £1600 whcih they accepted no problem,
Try them remember ask for a classic car agreed value policy.
Please post the outcome here when you phone so others can see too.
Footman James' number is 0121 56141896
V important. YOu need to be a member of ANY volvo club or join one within 14 days of buying the policy, its one of their condistions.
By the way they consider a car a classic when its over 16 years old, which of course yours is. I might be totally wrong but I'm going to take a guess at what they will quote. It is a T5 (bigger insurance group to mine) so I think about £450?? do let us know.
Cheers Jeff

OK then try adrian flux or HIC (also known as Herts Insurance consultants).

Also try footman James again. They are a BROKER that means they just set up the policy with an insurance company. For example when you called the best deal might have been with equity red star or highway or Royal sun alliance. Its the insurer that tell Footman James the limitation on age. If you call again its likley that they;ll speak to a different insurer. The insurer they speak to at the time just depends on who;s doing the best price for them.
I personally have a friend who is 18 with a mk2 golf and he's with footman james,

Give Volvo insurance a try.

I did my T5 a few months ago and they where by far the cheapest.
I am much older and loads of NCB but worth a try.

I even went down the classic car limited mileage route and even they could not touch volvo.
