Default Refit door card 740

Ive been looking at this on and off since I got the car, the passenger side door card must have been taken off at some point and is refitted pretty poorly. When the window is wound down it catches on the bottom and there appears to be 4 or 5 metal clips that look like they might need to go under something. Could anyone offer any pointers on how these fit back on correctly.?

It has been several years since I removed a 700 series door card so I can't remember off the top of my head what they're like but I've done a guide for the 940 which might be of some help.

It's very simple ..... the rubber interior window wiper/seal (same style as the exterior one) is attached to the top lip of the card (that is against the glass) by clips along its under edge/length. The exterior and interior wipers/seals press against the glass to provide the seal ..... when they are new.

Hi Bob, interesting insight, are the clips underneath supposed to clip into something? ive got what can only be described as an air gap between the window and card when its fixed on/

Is the gap even and about 4-5mm all the way along? If so, it sounds like you haven't fitted it correctly.
Make sure the window is wound down as far as it can go, remove all the fasteners from their various places and lift the card up and towards the widow aperture.
Lower it and you should find it locates nicely so it's much closer to the window (should be touching but it's difficult to get that if the window is up when the card is fitted) but you may have to give it a couple of goes as i suspect you've bent the door card slightly.

Maybe a photo of your set-up would help.

Silly question .... have you got the rubber wiper/seal attached to the door card or just a strip of thin edging plastic. If just the latter you are missing the rubber seal (like the exterior seal) that attaches to the door card and that could be a reason for the gap.

ive had a fiddle with it today and appear to have got a better fit. On a side note, there is an awful lot of wind noise around the top left hand corner of the passenger side, ive looked at the seal and there's not really much left, do you guys know if its generic door seal or if Volvo has a specific part number? just to clarify, the seal which runs along the top and side of the door frame when open.

If memory serves, those are bespoke items. You could have a word with Luke aka 360beast as he breaks 7/9xx cars among other services and may be able to help you with a good secondhand seal. Alternatively i think they're available from Volvo but the price is £OUCH eye-watering for a length of rubber!
