He is inviting offers for a car, which, as I understand it, he has insured for an agreed value at that figure. I agree that rust can be a problem on the 3-series - it spelt the end of my late MIL's otherwise good '83 360 GLE in '02. Having owned an '86 360 GL and an '87 1.7 GLE saloon (a very underated car IMO), neither of which was rusty at 10 - 12 years old, I would also be interested to know the specification of Joe's car. If Volvo had produced a 2.0 auto, I would have had one like a shot. I didn't particularly like the CVT on the 1.4, which I always felt was a little under powered.
