XC60 MK2 Parking Brake Temporarily Unavailable Warning

Hi,

Could really use some help, have an XC60 T5 MK2 that has a parking brake temporarily unavailable warning permanently displayed on the dash and looking for any experience or resolution to same/similar issues experienced.

It's fully serviced and in showroom condition, never had a problem in ownership and after a drive back home from Norwich (150 miles) switched car off and parked for an hour. When I got back to the car it displayed the warning and hadn't cleared since.

Took it to the garage (Volvo independent specialist - former dealer) who did investigation and found no mechanical fault with the braking system, carried out a software update and replaced the start/stop 12v battery. They couldn't resolve the issue without further work required but not exactly sure what it would entail or cost.

The car is safe to drive and the stop/start works as normal when stopping and pressing the brake to a stop, it just automatically pulls forward once the brake is lifted, hence temp parking brake not available.

From owning the car (bought 2021 first reg Oct 2017) it has always grabbed a little when the main parking brake is released to pull away (auto transmission) which I though was normal but seems a few vV90's have reported similar issues with 'grabbing' and needing a nudge from the accelerator to pull forward.

The garage suggest changing out some modules and maybe a sensor and cable to the calipers (I think?) Does anyone have experience or suggestion on this? The garage a very professional and trustworthy but following process of elimination and my expense and if there is a known fix would help massively.

Can't help with the diagnosis but sounds like you need to try a different garage as they appear to have a scatter gun approach to changing parts! I can't see why they felt the need to change the secondary battery

It may be worth the cost of having a Volvo dealer do the diagnosis even if you don't use them for the actual repair

did you get a resolution to this? My XC90 has started to do the same and I think is was due to the main battery but I am not sure. I have replaced both main battery and stop start battery and the warning on the dash is still there

Ive got similar issues too on my v90 cc so am interested in any results.
