Lightbulb The in car Phone

So after writi8ng off our previous XC90 on a small rock, we have replaced the car with a very nice Volvo XC90 D5 AWD Geartronic and I have to say it is a lovely car. It does, however, have the integrated phone within the center console with the answer/hang-up button inbuilt within the steering wheel.

So my question is this, what is the best hands-free option to install that could potentially use the existing steering wheel control?

What year is the "new" car?

I have a MY2009 XC90 with the built-in GSM 900/1800 (2G) phone.
I researched the Bluetooth options a lot when I got it, and found that it was not possible to upgrade from fixed phone to bluetooth enabled phone (except of course for adding a complete separated non-integrated bluetooth system)

The steering wheel buttons send commands on the CAN bus network, so can be interpreted by anything that understands the CAN bus commands.

Then it's the same setup as mine

The steering wheel commands go over the CAN bus.

I know of no commercially available handsfree option that can use the existing steering wheel controls.
And yes, I investigated it a lot

The cheapest easiest way is to register the car with a SIM card with a mobile provider that supports 2 x SIMs on the same phone number, and routes the calls to the car phone or to the mobile phone based on which SIM you advise is the primary SIM.

Or, replace the whole thing with a new carplay head unit with the control module. Bit of a fiddle to install, but works a treat

Has anyone used this?
Seems to be better and less hassle than fitting a whole new system.

Back to the OP, there's no easy way of using the steering wheel controls if you dont want to put an simm in the phone. Your best bet is a handsfree bluetooth kit like the Bury.

My '11 XC90 has the built-in phone but also bluetooth for connecting my handset to the car, does yours not have this? Works great with the steering controls etc.
