V50 Electrics : - V50 cutting out / electrics playing up

2005 volvo V50 2.0D sport

recently the radio has been going all fuzzy and the disply flickering randomly also the faulty child lock message has been showing on the display
and some times the wipers just don't work, and this week the heater blower keeps stopping.
this has been going on a month or so, but now when the radio crackles and goes fuzzy the engine stops!!!

what should i look at?
i did notice when starting the engines turns over really slowly could it be the battery?

update none of the above symptoms appear when the radio is off???!!!
what can i t be?

Got to assume some sort of short or earth problem?

worth changing the battery?

I would check the connections are incorrectly to the stereo and display first before looking at the actual wireing, it is not going to be the battery itself.

This will mean you'll ned to dismantle the centre waterfall dash.

great i'll get involved,

before i run outside do i need any special tools,
i think i have TORX SCREW SET will that be enough

also do think the radio shorting would affect the heater and wipers?

No special tool other than a coupleof torx bits, there are instructions on here if you do a search but if you can't find them post back and either I or someone will point you to some instructions somewhere for getting the stereo out.

No, no the radio shorting I don't think willaffect the heater or wipers, well maybe the heater as it is controlled from the same console and connection as the stereo controls but not the wipers.

What probalems are you having with heater and wipers?

sometimes the wipers just don't work, you have to stop the car and turn it on and off a few times then they come to life!

can you please post the radio removal guide please

it was the battery, and alternator.
since replacing both, never had a electrical fault as previously described
