Default gdi fuel pressure

i have got a volvo 2001 v40 gdi. i have been having problems with the acceleration on this car.
it will rev and drive fine if i disconnect and re-connect the battery but after approx 5 miles it will lose power and engine management light will come on.
then it will go into a sort of limp mode, and will not rev over 4000rpm, until i disconnect the battery again.
when light has come on it shows up on the diagnostic that "fuel pressure sensor circuit
malfunction" is the cause. i have replaced the sensor with a second hand one from my local scrappy but still the same.

please help as i'm getting a little frustrated.

any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
