Default D5 rough idle when cold

Hello all.

My D5 has developed a lumpy idle on starting from cold only, it doesn't show on rev counter so its only slight, but after having lived with the car for a long time, I know how it should sound, and once it's warm after driving its sounds as it should.

It also momentarily flashes on the dim screen no oil pressure on 1st start but I'm talking for a split second, where should I be looking for anything specific to start with?

It's due another 6000 mile oil change in a few hundred miles but for its mileage it barely uses any between changes.

TIA

We don't have the diesel engines in No. America so I'm "cross-guessing".

The oil pick up tube O-rings cracking with age has come up with the petrol engines. Maybe the diesels have the same setup and maintenance needs?

The oil filter crowd would mention the effectiveness / condition of the ADBV (Anti Drain Back Valve). Do the diesel filters have this? I can tell you from experience (again, all petrol) that ADBVs' operation range from perfect to non-existent.

A slight stumble in cold idling might be addressable using a known good injector cleaner. Two strong tankfuls. It'd be a cheap shot in the dark.

If your engine has the "mixing pipe (?)" which fills with black goo, maybe it's choking your idle air supply?

How many miles are on your car?

Have you scanned for any fault codes?

Glow plugs is a possibility.

No codes showing after all. How did you diagnose to GP wiring being the fault?

Accidentally, each time i removed the plugs or changed them whilst trying to diagnose, I found that the issue resolved itself, either by some or all of it.
All of my connectors to the plugs are broken too.

I would def think glowplugs.. they are used not just for frosty morning startups, bosch duratherm, fairly cheap to obtain and pretty easy to replace, you just need a long reach 8mm socket, dont go mad with tightening torque... the sockets def fall apart with the plastic ageing, i have a good fix for that if youre interested, the euro 4 diagnostics reports individual fault codes for each glowplug which is fairly clever , resistance should be only around 1 ohm each to chassis/engine block.
