Default V70 T5 VVT unit posoition help! (Xreg)

After replacing the cam shaft oil seals I am now ready to put the VVT exhaust side back together, the problem is there are conflicting reports on how this is done.

I have the timing tools holding the cams in place but cant get a definitive on how to set the vvt unit. the hayns manual says to line up the timing marks and other posts say to off set by 1 1/2 T can any one help or point me in the right direction or a link to a good work shop manual.

thanks.

With the cams locked and the cam belt off the cam sprocket, rotate the exhaust cam sprocket fully clockwise then rotate it fully anti-clockwise.Undo the x3 10mm nuts holding the sprocket onto the VVT (this will allow the sprocket to align correctly to the cam belt) refit the cam belt and adjust the cam sprocket to the cam belt.. Adjust the belt tensioner, then re-tighten the x3 10mm bolts..

If i understand this is if the VVT has not been removed from the cams, which i removed knew i should have left it on.

Question

my confusion is that the haynes manual says to tighten the VVT turn it full open, unscrew then retighten tighten.

another page on the tinterweb goes on about setting the vvt 1 and 1/2 teeth out to the left.

and another that i will probably be going with, says Install the timing gear pulley using the centre screw on the camshaft. Ensure that the markings on the timing gear pulleys/upper timing cover correspond. Do not tighten, instal belt then tighten using timing marks.

confused and lost on this, can any one shed light on how the VVT is re aligned ???

but on the up side have found the more smilies button

I think people have found both Haynes and VADIS to be wrong.

thanks for the link, but I am still not following . when i put the VVT back on the cam shaft do any of the timing marks need to line up as this is not mentioned?

If you hold the VVT fully clock wise how do you line up the timing marks?? as these would then be off.

am I reading/understanding this right?
