S60r/v70r
Hi all.
Where is the angle gear on the S60R/V70R,.? Do these cars have a transfer box? Also do the tyers need to be kept with in 2mm tread depth of each other? Thanks in advance if you can answer my questions.

Im pretty sure angle gear is at the front as for the tyres i would have said the suspension will adapt for that

a 2mm difference in tread depth works to about 10-14mm difference in peripheral length depending on tyre size. better to keep depths as close as possible but i'm sure taking corners etc requires the differential to work far more.

The tyre tread depth isnt important on this later system with the Haldex coupling . Tyre depths are only a concern with the viscous coupling used up to 2001 .

Angle gear is on the output side of the gearbox. The right hand side driveshaft goes through the angle gear.
There's no need to keep tires to any % within each other in a haldex system. Thats for the viscous couplings from pre-AOC time, every S60R/V70R P2X chassis are fine. The angle gear itself isn't weak, but the transfer joint between the gearbox and angle gear wears out eventually, rendering the car 2WD. |
