Hi All, and thank you Bob for your welcome. I have been very interested in all the threads in all the forums, with regards to the upgrades you have all made to your cars. I am new to this and all your threads have got me thinking, what I could do to inprove my car? First of all new front disc,s and pads, and then a re-map seems the way to go. Any suggestions? 1997 v70 awd (box standard car but I like my 16" wheels) |

Hi Andy,
The first thing I did on my car was to install a full exhaust. It didn't add much power, but just made the car sound sweet. After that, I wanted to improve the suspension, and one that was already considered quite good. So, I then replaced the anit-roll bars. That was perhaps the mod that was the most impacting thus far. I was so pleased with the bars that I wanted more....I then replaced various bushing for engine mounting, strut tensioning and add a proper rigid strut brace. I mention all this because I, and probably others at first, was seriously power hungry that was good for drag racing (which I'm not into). Yet, after having some proper time on a track, I realized that the suspension/tyres were just as, and if not more important, than power. So I've opted to not upgrade the ECU and instead do other little mods that would make finer and improving adjustments to the car. Things I've addressed being brakes, handling, brake cooling (issue for the R), and just staying on top of keeping everything in good condition as every trackday takes its toll. This has been the direction that I have taken and I couldn't be more pleased with everything that has been done. I hope this helps in your quest for performance. Regards, Kevin |

Hi Kevin, thank you for all your advice, you seem to have taken this upgrading to heart and getting a lot of fun out of your car. The exhaust mod is one I have thought of as I can put a twin back box on my car as there is a cut out in the bumper. The front strut brace is something I have also thought of as I have read that it helps with steering and front end traction. Best Regards Andrew |
