I think it is only the manual 850 t-5r that has lsd, same as the 850R manual has auto has not.

Default Silly question time

What are the main diffrences between a LSD and traction control?

I believe traction control is supposed to stop the tyres from spinning when booted

And I believe LSD helps to put the power/drive down to the tyres without them spinning to much as well.

So what are the pros and cons of them both?

ps Sorry if this seems a dumb question, but I want to know the answer.

G'day.

Re: Traction Control- as far as I've been told, T.C. relies on a system of weights that are thrown into 'lock' position when you 'boot it' and are thrown OUT when the speed rises, thereby giving you your diff back, in other words it only functions at certain specified revs, i.e. once you're moving it lets go.

Sorry for the simplistic reply but I'm no teacher, I'm a van driver.

Regards, Nick H.

traction control is an electrical system that which compares individual wheel speeds to detect wheel spin, it then will either cut the power or put the brake on the spinning wheel to stop it spinning until it gets grip

a LSD (limited slip differential) is a complete replacement diff (inside the gearbox) which when it detects a wheel is spinning more than the other will lock up the internal gearing so the other wheel gets power as well
