Default Radar Blocked, ABS/ESC, City Safe, Collision Warning faults

Morning wise ones,

As you can see, I’m have the odd issuer with my 2014 D5 XC70.

The radar blocked message has been on for the 6/7 months I’ve owned it (FSM-C1A6797), but driving from Cornwall to London last week the ABS/ESC failure message appeared and is now permanently illuminated. After a nightmare 7+ hour journey, when parking, the gearbox (auto) jolted massively when going from reverse to drive (not done that since and will get the oil changed).

Then on the way home, City Safe and Collision Warning also need servicing, Hill Decent doesn’t work either oh, and just for good measure the bonnet doesn’t open.

Lots of codes, which I hope the main one is left rear wheel sensor failed and this should solve several problems (BCM-C003707).

Other codes are:

CEM-B11D453 Low Speed Collision Mitigation by braking disabled.

CVM-U041568 Invalid data from Brake Control Module.

CVM-U300066 Control Module algorithm failures signal has too many transitions.

I’m sure that will give the garage enough to keep them busy, but just wondered if anyone has any thoughts please.

Many thanks

Any battery charge/charging issues? Many fault codes can show as a result.

Also, have a good check for water ingress/damage behind the dash/above the footwells. Numerous simultaneous faults occurring are unlikely and these are likely to be linked.

My wife's 2015 V60 displayed a vast array of warning messages when an ABS sensor got damaged.

Once the sensor was replaced, the error messages all disappeared.

This doesn't give a favourable impression of Volvo's testing of their software, most notably in terms of integration testing to establish how well everything works in concert.

All of the systems you mentioned need wheel speed signals.

You have a faulty wheel speed sensor.

Start there.

Thanks very much everyone.

I’m hoping the wheel speed sensor will sort most things out.

The battery is a good shout as well. I have checked several times for damp/wet carpets etc, but all seems dry.

Following on from this post, I now have a bit of an update.

After a visit to my local independent, we had two hours of labour just to open the bonnet, so not the best start.

Gearbox and rear axle oil changed, so fingers crossed that will solve the clonking issue, although they commented the gearbox oil looked especially bad.

Overboost error also picked up, but after a smoke test, seems it’s just a faulty MAP sensor (not that I have resorted to Google yet to find out the cost).

So it will be back next week when the parts are in for a new bonnet catch and cable, the wheel speed sensor and the MAP sensor.

Turbo pipes were also noted to be soft.

As for the radar blocked message, he just said let’s sort out the other problems first, which sounds ominous!

Did you get a message on dash with "abs" light on? Since the sensor was damaged?

Has anyone used VIDA on the car to see what faults are logged in the ECUs?

My issues were finally sorted last week.

The auto electrician wasn’t getting back to me and nor was my local Volvo specialist, so I had to resort to using Volvo. £2,000 later (£1,300 for this problem and £700 to fix my air conditioning). Everything is working!

The Volvo specialist I use tried programming the unit but it failed and and I lost the lane departure warnings and the reading of the road signs.

The main dealer replaced the unit behind the rear view mirror, at some point the windscreen had been replaced and they think that probably caused the issue.

I’d previously had one of the wheel speed sensors replaced and that fixed the hill decent problem, along with the ABS warning.

To think my Volvo was bought to replace a Discovery 4 that was expensive to run, but in the 9-10 months I’ve owned my XC70, it’s cost over £3,500 in repairs, even my Land Rover never managed that!!

I am having the same issue with my 2013 s60 t5 awd. So many error codes. Did you fix the issue? I'd appreciate an update since I am running out of options to fix this.

Someone mentioned, abs senor and wheel speed sensor. Did you get a light on dashboard since abs sensor was bad?
