D3 lacks power
Hello,
I do hope someone can help. Owned a C30 D3 auto, MY 2011 completely standard for over two years and never happier. Full Volvo Service history and now 84,000mls. Sadly lack of power and check engine light had me attend the garage. Fault codes ECM-P210000 and ECM-P217300 advised to clean or change Throttle Actuator. Firstly cleaned actuator and checked internal gears. Dirty but all okay. Re fitted, cleared codes, test drive and all seemed fine. Next day lack of power again and the same fault codes. Purchased brand new actuator, fitted it, cleared codes and upon starting check engine light illuminated, ARRGGHH. Same codes yet again. Can someone assist please. Thank you. |

lack of power (P210000;P217300)
Same story here- faulty ETB (or maybe anti shudder valve on a diesel)
2010 Volvo V70 P3 2.4D 129 KW. (EDC 17 CP22) Got codes: P210000- ETB open circut P217300- air mass too high Car started getting intermittent power loss. Then after about 1 week of driving with power on and off it got "Check engine" light and lost power completely (felt like there is no turbo). There was also slight engine noise that sounded like misfire, rougher idle and runing than normal and a distinct shudder on engine shutdown (as if the ETB could not close properly and ease the shutdown). We decided to not mess about with aftermarket parts and replaced it with original Bosch part (340 EUR) in our local Bosch car service. 3 months and about 3000 km (1900 miles) later it started all over again. The local Bosch service checked the wiring to the ETB and could not find any fault with that. Cleared the codes, but they came back the day with the same symptoms. Then we got the car to our local Volvo dealer and after some research it was established the new Bosch ETB was in fact defected and apparently many of them (Bosch or not) come faulty from factory. Replaced it with a good used part for 1/5 of the price of the original and fingers crossed the car is fine now. My hope is that there isn't some other fault on the car killing the ETB slowly. Only time will tell. Last edited by JKrumins; Apr 28th, 2024 at 12:29. |
