531 head and "A"cam
I am bilding up a new engine to go in my 940 wentworth ,I have got a 1997
B230ft engine and 1995 electronics ect to avoid problems with the later imoblisers. I have done all the electrics and it all works fine even with my B200ft. The engine is a big bearing "L" block ,but the head is an orderny 530 type with a "T" cam. The car is an auto and is ocasionly used to tow our heavy caravan , and is underpowerd for it ,last car V70 D5 AWD ,sold due to funds beeing needed. I know that I will not get the same low down torque , but with the 2.3 engine and some tunning things should inprove. I already run tesco 99 petrol ,this helps.I am planning a MBC to take it up to 10-11psi maybe sport exzust when I can afford it. I can get a 531 head and "A" cam cheep of a 760 with a B230et engine. Is this worth doing on a auto ,or would I only see an inprovemt above 5000RPM and how much would this affect the low down torque say about 2000-2500 RPM, as the "A" cam has a bit more lift? I know the US lot like this mod ,but is it best for a manual box and top end power? I have been told that moving the cam one notch on the belt can inprove the low down pull , BUT this sounds a bit iffey to me ,also is it one notch back ,or one notch forward? Also dose any one else have any other hints , that do not cost the earth? Regards Roger |

The 531 does flow a bit better than the 530,
The T cam is more of a 'good emmisions' cam really, it does have a good mid range but runs out above 5k If you have the 531 to hand it would be WELL WORTH rebuilding it (new valve stem seals) and lapping the valves while you have the oppertunity. The A cam is much better up top, but is a bit weaker down low. Have you thought about adjusting the kickdown cable a bit so the box shifts later? Also consider using the T cam in the 531. A decent size intercooler would also be a worthy investment, the stock one is too small really. think.... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/IVECO-75E15-In...QQcmdZViewItem It is also possible to get performance chips for a very reasonable price. (around £140) they plug straight into your existing ecu and icu so theres no remapping to do. PM me if you want more info on the chips.

std intercooler is great for a std engine !!
a better intercooler will always be a goo improvement tho . i second the chips , as it makes the engine much smoother also , unless of course 10 psi is enough for you .
