Hi P505DEF
I've just recently gone through this drama of trying to replace original '94 940 2.0 Turbo radio CR905, every time you touched the volume it crackled and popped. Wanted to upgrade to modern retro unit with streaming etc, so went for Blaupunkt Bremen that has standard ISO cable connection. Don't know what car you have, but on 940's some came with an amplifier under drivers side knee panel that drives the main 4 door speakers, whilst radio powered the two dash top ones. During installation it quickly became apparent that for some reason my car didn't. Everything I researched into this had pointed to amplifier being present, so I had bought a 'bypass' harness, not a lot if use. If you have an amplifier you can find these quite easily on the web, think I'd paid around £25 for it. I did do a post back in November I think of this saga, but ended up looking at the connectors at the back of the radio slot on the car harness, then took a punt on a £5 harness connector on eBay, that looked to have matching connections. It worked, and couldn't have been a simpler fit, just plug n play, made a bit easier as the Blaupunkt doesn't have CD drive, so body is quite a bit shallower meaning cables all sit well behind Please see link on second page of general, last updated 23.11.21, hope this works for you. 4 pages of desperation, but last page has the eBay link for the harness I used. https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=321464 Best of luck, keep us posted on your progress. Hi,
Yes this is exactly what I was wanting to do, replace head unit with Blaupunkt Bremen head unit, and as my 940 had usual problems of wrinkled door card vinyl on the top edges, I also replaced all 4 door speakers whilst sorting the vinyl out at the same time. New head unit gives a look that isn't out of place in a '90s car, but gives connectivity, Bluetooth, hands free phone, DAB, 2 x USB for music stored on sticks plus iPhone/iPod connections. Also has FM/AM Had in place around a month, and really happy with it, although to be honest I only really use the USB stick for albums stored and radio. Here in Suffolk the DAB signal isn't great, and probably the DAB aerial that came with it and sticks on inside of windscreen isn't the greatest, as in low spots whilst driving the signal does drop occasionally. This happened with my old Audi Allroad that had factory DAB. A really good feature for me was that you can vary the display colour, when looking at it the display mostly shows red, but my 940 has white/green dash lighting, this can be matched virtually identically so it doesn't stand out. Link below for head unit, I found Amazon to be cheapest when I bought, but have a look around online. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Blaupunkt-Y...9905351&sr=8-1 As mentioned the eBay cable that I gave you a link for was a straight plug and play, it really depends what model of car you want to put it in, and what plugs are on the car harness.
