main issue was they rushed it and the time it takes todo a well done P1800 was a lot longer than they could have was a long list a few of the guys had said about it but the bodywork was one and a lot of trim errors from memory but i remember them saying and they are experts in there field they said dont touch it and should never have got the price tag they did due to the car needing to be stripped back and redone properly i can gain the list if need be and come back with them but if they said what they did its with merit belive me
regards robert

I reckon I've seen every Wheeler Dealers thats been made. Always been unhappy with the fact that they just reuse rusty nuts and bolts to bolt new bits on. As an ex-Lotus owner the Elan they did was the worst bodge when they repaired body damage with filler before respraying. Needed detailed glass fibre work and the filler will fall out in next to no time.
Still enjoy the programme though but always annoyed that labour charges are never included in their sums. Doubt they have ever made a true profit. The funniest episode was when they bought a VW Beetle to do up. The engine was so far gone they bought a replacement. Then the body was so bad they decided to make a Beach Buggy using just the chassis. But the chassis was so shot they bought a new Beach buggy chassis, so in effect none of the original car was left. :0 Then there was the Suzuki SJ jeep they did up, fitted a roll over cage, resprayed the car black and then failed the MOT due to terminal rust they had failed to notice. Ended up selling it to a farmer to rag round his farm at half the cost they had spent.

All true but enjoyable none the less. Did ye see the new one with the Lamborghini Uracco? Really good, lovely car. But they brought it to Italy for the drive around when it was finished! Then back to the UK to sell it! Wonder how much that cost...

Our problem is that there isn't enough of these shows for us types, and I always get out voted when they are on anyway.

Personally I think it was good value with major fuel components replaced, head work, suspension work and I'm sure a warranty far better than you would get at any dealer. Any hint of an issue and the risk assessment would kick in and the production company would have it repaired. At £8.5K I think it represents good value when you consider some of the tat being peddled. At least this looked ok, was road worthy and could be improved while running it. There is some right horrors on eBay at the moment for money not far off this. Far better to highlight the good bits, they considered a volvo as one of the cars to overhaul. All good for the mark and keeping these cars on the road. I also agree with Mitch we need more of these programmes, perhaps a Overhauling UK with Chip Foose nicking my car and revealing a Vox lookalike! Russ |

I think some of you are missing the point. They arent doing a project car, theyre doing what a trader does every day of the week I.E. buy a cheap car, touch it up, polish it a bit and knock it out, and thats what they do, pur and simple
