Crankshaft locking pin cannot be removed

Hello,

I have changed my timing belt on the Volvo V40 1.9D 2003. Everything wonderful, timing is correct. Then I mounted the crankshaft pulley again and now the crankshaft locking pin no longer goes out. Completely unscrewed but can not be pulled out ...

You may have bent the locking pin, gently move the crank & see if it releases it .

So the locking pin is out. I had to weld a nut on the pin, so I pressed against it from the inside and turn out outside. A crappy job. I also saw that I didn't hit the TDC point exactly and the pin wasn't in the crankshaft, but the crankshaft was pushing on the pin....

How do I officially get the flywheel tight without a pin? Impact wrench???

The pin is only really used to locate the crank position, They are not normally strong enough to hold the crank for undoing, or tightening the crank pulley bolt. Ideally use a flywheel locking tool - if there is a position to fit one ? ..but if the car is manual transmission you may also get it tight enough by putting the car in gear.
