Oh, the Volvo dealer was able to tell me that the EMAP pipe and sensor were replaced in November last year, so they were obviously hoping for a cheaper fix than the EGR due to similar symptoms. Pleased that it has been replaced already, once EGR is done it should be very reliable !
Just the EGR valve or are you getting the modified cooler too? Ask them to check/clean the inlet manifold pressure sensor also as they get fouled up.

I guess they will perform the gearbox adaption/reset when everything is back together. Will be interesting to see how you get on.

Apparently the diagnostic will tell them whether it requires just the EGR or whether there is a flow fault and it also requires a cooler. EGR valves are on the shelf with Volvo, Coolers are on back order until 23rd April apparently.

Thanks for the tip re the inlet map sensor, I'll ask them to do that.

Just did a 240 mile run to south Wales and got the tortoise 'reduced engine performance ' message for the first time. Can't say I noticed any difference to the running..
