Volvo on call says car in use when it isn’t?

I'd try calling your local Volvo dealer and see if they can sort it on their end.

Or use the On Call button in the car.

Morning all,

My car is in a similar state at the moment. The car is showing as unlocked with the drivers door and window open, I cannot send a location to the car and its location on the map is no longer available. The car was in for a service yesterday so I thought it was a hangover from that which would eventually sort itself out. Seems more widespread (judging by a sample of two or three on this thread!).

Suspect a server side issue at Volvo which will sort itself out in the coming 24 hours.

Mine seems ok. I'm on the old layout of the app, not sure if that means much.

Correction: Commands seem to be taking a long time to go through to the car (if at all). I guess there's a server outage. This happens from time to time with Volvo.

I've also got the same issue which started yesterday. Can see some journeys but not all, it says it's open when it's locked etc etc. Have driven it and also restarted phone but can't be bothered with reinstalling the app, so hope above comments of it just being a server issue which will resolve itself pan out.
Not end of the world, but I like seeing trips etc 😊

Not much to add to this, other than to say that I'm seeing the same messages. Car is in use, with the sunroof open according to the app.

Car is actually locked, sunroof closed and hasn't moved in 24 hours.

I suspect it's an issue somewhere in Volvo's world. Not a massive issue, but it's an inconvenience I could do without.

I had exactly the same from yesterday afternoon and just now this information has gone.

Later i will try if it is possible to start engine remotely.

Three ideas.

1 Has the sim card thats inside the PSIM Slot expired or run out? Some Volvo owners dont realise the car comes with one in thre slot that has 365 days from Vodafone on it, after that, if theres a SIM in the slot, VOC will stop working.

2 Have you got adequate mobile reception to the car? Mine needs at least 2 bars of signal to correctly update stats, and i get exactly this if its low signal.

3 If you have no SIM in the pSIM Slot, VOC will use its own GSM network to do its thing, not sure which network this runs on, but worth getting it checked out and ensuring that the use car modem is not ticked in the infotainment settings.

You'd think they'd engineer the app to report 'this function not currently available, please try later' as a user message when the app cannot talk to the server, rather than allow spurious 'in use' or 'unlocked and sunroof open' messages.

But as I've been saying for some time now, until motor mfrs realise they are primarily in the software business, with a vehicle manufacturing operation to support it, they are going to continue to lag behind those who do realise it (like - I hate to say - Tesla) and continue to annoy their customers, whose expectations from embedded software are far higher these days.
