Default Body trim double sided tape stuff

So, this could be posted anywhere, but it's XC90 rehashed. Following on from my tail light debacle, I was assisted by Harley Dave and able to obtain a set of tail lights.
What I didn't notice or filling appreciate is that the fresh set had the chrome strip at the bottom.
So I've liberated that to fit the other side, but my question is about the best tape to secure? A double sided affairs but is the thickness (depth) pretty standard? I've seen some that says 0.76mm - obviously don't want the strip to stand proud, but that should be ok?

Sorry to ask, but car DIY not my strong suit and very much Uncharted Territory.

Try to purchase the original 3m VHB tape- various outlets, if you need to remove it at some stage then slide a length of fishing line under the fitting and slice off- residue can be removed with white spirit or panel wipe.
