Installing Bluetooth to a 2007 S40 2.0d SE Sport
Hi Guys,
Firstly, let me say hi as I'm new to this site! I'm thinking of installing a bluetooth kit to my 2007 S40 2.0d SE Sport. I've seen a genuine Volvo kit for sale, but was wondering how to go about fitting it. It looks as though it is a Motorolla kit, and looks very similar to one which I have installed in the past in a Toyota Aygo, however, I am sure it will be very different on the Volvo not least to the floating dash! Does anyone have any instructions, or links to instructions for fitting this kit? Alternatively, I've been looking at installing an io Play kit - is this any easier, and once again does anyone know where I would find instructions for fitting one? Thanks Dave |

If you can find a set of SOT addapter cables to convert the car to and from ISO connectors then the iO-Play is a doddle to connect, I can't help with more specific help as to the ident of the cables needed but one option is to visit your local Hlafords and ask them about fitting this kit to the car. They do fit this to vehicles and know which cables are needed (from a look up guide) and might offer the cable numbers if asked (even if you don't purchase the unit from them) - Mike

There is a link to instalation instructions on the web page .. you will need to take it to a volvo dealer for the activation software ...

Ok, so been having a bit more of a think about this and think I will go down the route of an iO Play kit, particularly because it will let me stream music from my iPhone and also pair more than 1 device (work blackberry and personal iPhone). Am I correct in thinking that because my car has the 'High Performace' sound system that there is an external amplifier, and therefore I will need a different wiring adapter? Also, does anyone have any idea which adapter I will need?
Thanks for all your help so far |

Have a look at This Page and give them a ring to discuss what cables you will need.
One point though the iO-Play will allow two devices to connect, one uses HFP for the handsfree, the other uses A2DP for music/ nav instructions, if you pair the iPhone up it will grab both channels unless you switch the BT off and let the works phone connect first, then switch the BT on the iPhone to on and that will use the A2DP - A bit of messing around but Bluetooth support hasn't really been a strong point when it comes to Apple phone products - Mike |

Just wanted to say a big thanks to all of you. I managed to get an ioPlay kit installed and it's working a treat. Just need to track down some of the yellow plastic clips which hold the door sill trim in place as i snapped a few :/

I have just taken my ioplay from my vectra and want to put it in a volvo s40 se 1.8 that I have purchased. It has the high performance stereo in the back, which I believe is similar to your install. Can you tell me what cables you used and how you went about fitting it. It's an excellent bit of kit that I want to use again Cheers in advance Chris |
