Think there are 6 licensed 1969 164's. 4 listed as 164 and 2, including my one as 164 auto - according to HowManyLeft. Aiming to use throughout the winter - provided it's dry and salt free roads...Cheers Mark

Default Volvo 164

Hi Mark - thanks for mail. My beige one is a 1968 model (manual) but I have two other 1969 cars (1 auto, 1 manual) both SORNd and one very rusty.
Have just been told of another owned by a garage owner not far from me so will pay him a visit when I can.
For your future records the VOC have a Southern BKV (best kept Volvo) meet at Popham airfield near Basingstoke on May 31st 2015, where I hope to organise an unofficial Volvo 140/164 meet. Roger Sampson, the club registrar gave me the go-ahead: we had several 164s there last time, about 4 years ago and I have more contacts now!
Also we run the annual Volvo Gathering at Bentley Wildfowl Reserve and Motor Museum, north of Lewes; next year on June 21st, where we get well over 40 Volvo's (only 1 164 though - mine!). Make a note in your diary. Look forward to seeing your car: PM me your email address so I can send you pics of mine.

...and DBP458G is one of mine! Mark, your PM hasn't arrived yet - slower than me getting back to this computer? We are on audakt@tesco.net for direct mails.

Hopefully taking it to a Volvo specialist near Sutton Surrey to have rear crankshaft oil seal replaced soonish, as very oily underneath when I was allowed under it at the recent MoT - he has a wonderful 164E too.

Thanks Paul. Have emailed you. Hope you manage to sort out the oil issue. quick question: on my auto I have the turn signal on the right of the steering column opposite the column shift. It tends not to stay on so you have to keep holding it down (or up) as you turn. This is becoming an issue on the MOT each year. Have sourced one from a 1972 car which should be as early as they go, but it looks a little different to me (mine looks more like the one on my P1800!) I may be able to get it to fit...anyway, just wondered whether yours was behaving itself. All the best Mark.

Just a bump on this: have advertised a 140/164 gathering here, in the VOC club magazine, so its official now!
A slight snag; both myself and a friend from near Portsmouth will be there, but we both have two cars! Currently looking for reserve drivers now....

Looking forward to it already.
