Default Lack of Oil Pressure

Help!

I have been driving Mischa recently and the oil pressure light comes on whenever you take a corner. She also stinks of hot oil and wisps of steam come out of the rocker cover whenever you take her on a long run.

I have a B18A engine - also, does anyone know where I can get a new sump gasket from (I have a weep).

Also, I know Paul (who sold me the car in Sussex, I got your e mail second time if you're reading this) mentioned what oil Mischa takes, but I can't remember the viscosity - does 20W\50 sound about right?

Any suggestions as to what's causing the oil to boil would be greatly appreciated.

not sure about the cause of the problem, but as for the gasket, Brookhouse, is the place to go, number is 01473218806, and i'm pretty sure his names simon. definitely begins with "S"

Take a look at the dipstick, it sounds to me like your oil level is low, or maybe needs changing, you need good oil for proper cooling ,no lubrication = friction = heat. Lots of short trips make it go thin black and useless fairly quickly.
Halfords has got a nice old style 20/50 grade in an old fashioned can that scored highly in a practical classics test and it seems to stand up well in an amazon engine in my experience.

Re: the oil light, if it's just when cornering, that does sound like very low oil....

Use a 20/50 or 15/50 - I normally use Halfords' own brand 15/50 (red can) as Castrol GTX is no longer available in this viscosity. A 15/40, 10/40 etc is too thin imho.

What thickness is it? Assuming it's 15/40, I personally think that's too thin but others may disagree.

BTW, which wheels?
