Don't think there is one, the function, I believe, is performed in the CEM.

Hi Chris,

I have noticed that you have posted before regarding this prob and the good guys pointed you towards the DIM, If you have just bought the car and bought it through a garage? I'd take it back because by the sounds of it it could be expensive - although some chaps on the forum have had it repaired at a more cost effective price - if you do a search you will find this.

I have had my V70 for 6 months bought it privately and had the dreaded SRS warning for no apparent reason so I'm waiting for other things to go wrong! but I need my codes read - just haven't had chance!

Hi

Yes, have posted similar before, but after a bit of googling around i read something that suggested a plug in relay (black in colour) aka flasher unit may be causing the issue. Hence the post to maybe locate that?

I emailed the link on the response to my other post (company specialising in repairs of this kind from Gorelston in Great Yarmouth) but haven't had a reply. Will try to phone them. Will be dead handy if they can do it because my other half’s dad lives in Gorelston!

Anyway, I have also found this thread:

http://www.volvo-forums.com/t13321-d...d-problems.htm

Which explains how to fix the issue with the DIM. I'm reasonably techie but way out of my depth here so if this is the issue and the black relay is a red herring then i'll be off to Gorleston, or taking the guy in Ireland (from the post above) up on the offer of sending it to him.

By the way, I can't go back to the garage because it was a friend of my dads who is a trader and took the volvo as a trade in against one of his cars and i bought it for what he paid, with no warranties etc. Therefore I got a very good price and if it costs me a few hundred quid to get it sorted I will still have a reasonable deal.

Finally, I was pointed in the direction of the DIM previously but note the reply in this post also mentions flashing is controlled by the CEM. Can anyone help me out here? Could it be either at fault?

Anyway, for those that are wondering what my other post (referenced in this post) is about, my problem is my indicators are working fine on the outside, but nothing (no green arrows, no sound) on the inside.

MOT due in 8 days, so need to get it sorted!!

Chris

Hi, I had EXACTLY this problem on mine. No 'click' when indicating and tempermantal green dashboard arrows. It was the first signs of DIM failure and I fortunately had mine replaced under warranty for a newer unit with the silver rings round the dials.
There are a few links to repairers posted in various threads.
I believe second hand units might work but will be coded to their original donor cars which could cause problems in the future (depending on you morals! ROFL).

Maybe the DIM problem could be stickied by the mods to the top of this forum as a lot of threads are appearing relating to this issue.

"but note the reply in this post also mentions flashing is controlled by the CEM".

This is true, however you did not say what the problem was.

The CEM controls the function but the driver indication that the indicators are working is converted to the green arrows by the DIM on reciept of the CAN messages from the CEM.

So if the external lamps are flashing and the internal ones are not then the problem is with the DIM.

Just to keep people updated, I had this from Cluster repairs UK:

"The total cost of the repair is £249 plus VAT delivery included. We only offer a full rebuild of the cluster as it has too many common faults. You can visit the workshop for repair, repair time 2.5 hours, removal and refit is plus £30 plus VAT"

I will more than likely book it in and will post again to let people know how I got on
